The Center for Innovation and Technology Transfer is an effective environment for promoting a culture of innovation and intellectual asset management at Sultan Qaboos University. It applies international best practices in translating scientific research results into value-added products and services through licensing activities for existing companies or through the creation of science and technology-based start-ups. The center consists of five departments, including programs and professional development, industrial communication, incubators, innovation development, intellectual property, coordination, follow-up, and archiving.
Sultan Qaboos University, represented by the Center for Innovation and Technology Transfer, organized the Scientific Incubator Program, which seeks to promote the projects incubated annually in the program to attract investors and transform projects into start-up companies and market them.
The practical incubator program is designed to develop scientific innovations and research outputs and study their economic feasibility and market opportunities, to transfer them to the community in the form of tradable products and services in the markets. It has a set of resources and support services that include facilities for the use of laboratories and research resources, and consultancy and training integration in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship.
Rataq was one of the winning teams incubated by the Innovation and Technology Transfer Center from January to July 2021. During the period of the program, the company benefited from a series of workshops related to entrepreneurship, in addition to facilities for the use of laboratories and research resources at the university. The incubator also focused on trying to connect the company with investors and finding opportunities.
